By popular request, we are running more frequent fish fries during the late winter and early spring. Check the community calendar at http://www.bridgmanlaketownshipnews.com for the dates. In addition to the "all you can eat" surprisingly tasty fish, we offer spectacular views directly on Lake Michigan. We encourage Lions from surrounding clubs to take this opportunity to see for themselves! f you--or someone you know--is thinking of becoming a Lion, this would be a opportunity to volunteer on some of these fun projects and see what being a Lion is all about! These are also satisfying projects in which to involve your older children. The Bridgman Lions Club has been serving the Bridgman-Lake Township community continuously since 1968. We have a focus on vision needs and provide glasses at no cost to local residents who cannot otherwise afford them. We can also assist people of limited means who need hearing aids. We sponsor a section of highway cleanup, operate a refreshment stop on the Cider Century Biking event, have a booth at the Bridgman Street Dance. We identify and give recognition to a "Citizen of the Year" who is not a Lion, but who personifies community service in Bridgman. We provide scholarships for students graduating from Bridgman High School (contact the high school counselor for an application) who demonstrate scholarship, need, and a commitment to community service. We sponsor two active Leo clubs for service-minded youth--one at the middle school and one at the high school. Our major activity is the operation of the Lions Cafe at Weko Beach in Bridgman. We serve food and rent the facility for parties in the off season. For the current year, we are emphasizing greater response to poverty issues in Bridgman and Lake Township. We are working to provide more extensive gift baskets at the holiday season and supporting school-age students with backpacks and other supplies for the start of the school year.
